Burra Foods - Korumburra Infrastructure Capacity Expansion
A $2.1 million power upgrade for one of Korumburra’s largest employers will help prevent costly blackouts, secure 80 jobs, provide stable electricity supply to neighbouring properties, and generate the power needed to cope with the company’s planned expansion.
Burra Foods has announced a significant expansion and requires greater power supply and stability. The company estimates blackouts cost it an average $1 million per year due to production lost to downtimes, equating to approximately $150,000 per blackout.
Under the Regional Electrical Access Program, RDV's Infrastructure Development Fund has provided a grant of $2.1 million to boost the company’s power supply by an additional six megawatts. The power upgrade will help increase production and boost the company’s exports by approximately $75 million.
