Regional Community Leadership Program
Regional development increasingly requires strong leadership at the local and regional level. Acknowledging that business leaders in rural and regional Victoria are often also the leaders in their communities, this initiative aims to support an innovative regional business leadership culture and stronger linkages between local leaders across government, business and community sectors.
The Regional Community Leadership Program benefits communities by building the business leadership skills, capabilities and knowledge of regional leaders in the business, local government and community sectors. This program involves a combination of:
- formal training
- informal learning opportunities
- mentoring
- network creation
- resource and knowledge sharing.
This combination supports a strengthened resilience and capacity to respond to economic development challenges and opportunities that are essential to a region’s future economic sustainability and liveability. A strong emphasis is placed on shared learning and the ongoing dissemination of knowledge from participants and ongoing connectivity between participants beyond the immediate life of the project.
Eligibility
The initiative is available for local and regional projects and available to the 48 rural and regional councils as well as community and business/industry organisations seeking to build their business leadership capability.
