Young Farmer First Farm Grant

The Young Farmer First Farm Grant, an initiative under the Industries for Today and Tomorrow Program, provides business planning and development support to help young people committed to farming.

The program will provide business planning grants for the preparation of a farm business plan and a capital investment contribution towards its implementation.

Grants of up to $3,000 will be provided to prepare a business plan for a new farm or redevelopment of an existing farm. Following completion of the plan, additional capital grants of up to $7,000 will be available for fixed farm infrastructure, equipment, machinery, earth works or building costs that are recommended in the business plan.

Eligibility

The Young Farmer First Farm Grant program provides grants of up to $3,000 for business planning and additional grants for development projects to enhance the productivity and sustainability of young farmers, with the combined total not exceeding $10,000.

Young farmers who already have a business plan that meets the standards required for this scheme may be eligible for further capital and development grants of up to $10,000 for fixed farm infrastructure, equipment, machinery, earth works or building costs that are recommended in the business plan.

Delivery

The program commenced in 2010, is managed by the Department of Primary Industries (DPI) and is administered by Rural Finance.
