Kinglake Ranges Cultural and Community Facility - Master Plan Update

Identified as a key community recovery project following the 2009 bushfires, the Kinglake Ranges Cultural and Community Facility (KRCCF) will meet community aspirations for a highly functional and visually striking asset for the region and its residents.

It will be developed in partnership with Parks Victoria who will co-locate the new Kinglake National Park Visitor Information Centre as well as its rebuilt depot and offices alongside the community facility.

Master Plan Update

A community information session to present the draft Master Plan for the Kinglake Ranges Cultural and Community Facility has been postponed to enable further site investigation work to be done.

Originally, the Master Plan was to be released at a session on Tuesday 28 February at 7.00pm at the Kinglake Community Centre in Kinglake Central. This session has been postponed, as has the feedback period which was due to run until 23 March.

Plans for the design team to meet with members of the community at the Kinglake Ranges Rebuilding Advisory Centre on Saturday 3 March from 11.00am to 2.00pm have also been postponed.

The design team has identified a number of issues with the steep, sloping topography of Gangelhoff Hill, where the Facility is planned to be built. These issues effect in particular the siting of the planned Parks Victoria depot, which is being built as part of the Facility. Further investigation work is now underway to ensure the depot and associated road works are appropriately and safely sited.

Significant work has gone into the development of the draft Master Plan for the Kinglake Ranges Cultural and Community Facility and the co-located Parks Victoria facilities. The project partners remain committed to resolving the outstanding issues and presenting a thorough, workable Master Plan to the community.

A new date for the community information session and consultation period will be advertised as soon as possible.
