Ballarat Action Plan launched

A new pilot-project addressing youth unemployment in Ballarat and maximising opportunities generated from the Regional Rail Link are two key features of the Committee for Ballarat's new Action Plan which was launched this morning.

The Committee for Ballarat's new Action Plan reflects its focus on in improving the social and economic future of the region. The themes of connectivity and employment, identified as key factors in the Action Plan and are reflective of the Victorian Government's vision for the area. Driving employment growth and providing job opportunities for young people is vital for the continued growth of regional cities such as Ballarat.

In parallel with the Committee for Ballarat's plans the Victorian Government has launched a number of initiatives designed to help young people gain long-term employment including increasing the number of government-subsidised training places. They have also provided funding to expand the student accommodation facilities at the University of Ballarat which will lead to more graduates entering the local workforce. 

The Committee for Ballarat's proposal to develop a program that assists young people engage with the workforce will complement the Government's initiatives.

Exciting times are ahead for Ballarat with the Regional Rail Link, Ballarat West Employment Zone and the Western Link Road providing a solid base for long-term growth and development in the region.

The Government is dedicated to supporting the Ballarat region and have demonstrated this with an investment of more than $88 million committed to local projects in this year's State Budget.

The Committee for Ballarat consults with government to ensure that policy development and program delivery is better informed and regionally relevant.  It takes a proactive approach in achieving positive social and economic outcomes for the community.
