Boost for country football and netball

Thursday, 3 November 2011

Two popular sporting venues in the Ballarat region are among 11 Victorian clubs set to benefit from more than $485,000 worth of funding from the latest round of the Victorian Government's Country Football and Netball Program.

The Ballarat Football Netball Club will benefit from $40,000 towards the building of a new pavilion at Alfredton Recreation Reserve, while the Carngham Linton Football Netball Club will benefit from a $60,000 boost to build a new netball court and viewing facilities at the Carngham Recreation Reserve.

The Country Football Netball Program (CFNP) acknowledges the important role regional sporting facilities and their resident clubs play in their community. From providing a place for locals to meet and be physically active, to mentoring players, coaches, and volunteers, the CFNP ensures clubs have the necessary facilities to continue doing their great work on and off the field.

Improvements will be a great boost for clubs and communities, bringing more people together, and ensuring as many people as possible have better access to quality sporting facilities.

With more and more people wanting to get involved at clubs like Ballarat Football Netball Club and Carngham Linton Football Netball Club, the CFNP ensures these clubs, and clubs around Victoria can continue to have the facilities they need.

Working together the government and clubs can ensure country football and netball clubs continue to be the backbone of their communities.
