Food and Wine Festival set to harvest Victorian regional produce

Thursday, 29 September 2011

The Harvest Picnic at Hanging Rock will receive $6,250 from the Victorian Government through Tourism Victoria's Events Program.

Funding for the upcoming Harvest Picnic event will assist with event marketing to highlight Victoria's credentials as a premier food and wine destination.

The annual food and wine event is managed by the Harvest Picnic Foundation which was a not-for-profit organisation.

The Harvest Picnic, now in its 21st year, brings together more than 150 small to medium local food and wine producers and their fare, from cheeses and meats to artisan breads, preserves, craft ales and boutique wines.

The Macedon Ranges is a wonderful region for tourists to visit with its natural beauty and great restaurants and wineries serving superb local produce. The Harvest Picnic is a great day out for a group of friends or the whole family.

The event also has a comprehensive program of activities designed to maximise visitor interaction, including live entertainment, cooking demonstrations, gourmet food and wine displays in marquees, along with tastings.

The Government is committed to supporting local events and promoting regional Victorian tourism. Regional food and wine events attract visitors to regional towns, providing an important boost to local economies through tourism and local spending.

The Harvest Picnic at Hanging Rock will be held on 26 February 2012. For more information visit www.visitvictoria.com
