Golden Plains combined town halls upgrade complete

Major upgrade works to three key community facilities in the Golden Plains region were officially opened today by Parliamentary Secretary for Regional and Rural Development Damian Drum.
Mr Drum said the Inverleigh, Rokewood and Mannibadar halls had received simultaneous upgrades and renovations over the last 18 months making them safer, more comfortable and more user-friendly.
Each community hall has received much-needed improvements that will ensure they continue to function as central hubs of community and social life in these towns.
Improvement works included:
- Inverleigh Hall – renovation of the back of the hall, upgrade to the foyer, refurbishment of the toilet facilities and floorboard and ceiling upgrades
- Rokewood Hall – improvements to heating and cooling, acoustic improvements, upgrades to the toilets and floor
- Mannibadar Hall – repairs to the roof, external painting, weatherboard replacement and floorboard repairs.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional and Rural Development Peter Ryan said the Golden Plains Shire was one of the fastest growing municipalities in provincial Victoria, which highlighted the importance of maintaining community infrastructure.
"With the substantial improvements now complete these towns can look forward to an increase in community activities and social interaction, which in turn will help bring more revenue into the towns and improve their economic outlook," Mr Ryan said.
Mr Ryan said the Victorian Government would continue to support projects that stimulated growth, prosperity and better quality of life for people in regional and rural Victoria.
Funding for the $300,000 Combined Halls Upgrade Project came from the Victorian Government ($200,000) and the Golden Plains Shire ($100,000).
