Help Shape Dairy Support

Friday 17 June 2016

The Victorian dairy industry is currently experiencing challenging economic and seasonal conditions.

The Victorian Government and the dairy industry are working together to support dairy farmers through this tough period.

The Victorian Government has announced a $11.4 million package, including $5.2 million of industry funding, that will fund measures aimed at supporting dairy farmers.  The package incorporates $1.5 million of funding to ensure there are more services available to dairy farmers experiencing emotional and financial stress.

As part of the support package, the Victorian Government has set aside $4.5 million to support affected farming communities. We want to hear from your organisation on how these funds are best allocated.

Your organisation may wish to make a submission by email to dairy.support@ecodev.vic.gov.au

Some questions to prompt you:

  1. What’s missing from the existing support package?
  2. What type of assistance will best help dairy farmers and their communities now?
  3. How might the funds be used to support farmers, families, small businesses or communities?

Emails will be received until 5.00 pm Friday 8 July 2016 and all suggestions will be used to inform the final composition of the package.
