Mallee Assembly kicks off new Victorian round20/06/2017
Not only can the Mallee cook up a storm on big ratings TV, but it will also be hosting Victoria’s first regional assembly for 2017.
On show to the country at the moment through Channel 10’s MasterChef Heston’s Road Trip series, host town Swan Hill starred on Sunday night, while tonight will be Mildura’s turn.
With Lifestyle and Tourism one of the major discussion themes at the upcoming assembly, the timing couldn’t be better.
“It has been terrific to see our natural Mallee scenery, lifestyle and produce on show in this way,” Mallee Regional Partnership chair Win Scott said.
“Interest in next week’s assembly has been consistently strong since registrations opened in March, with more than 60 per cent of attendees ‘first timers’,” she said.
“We’ve worked hard to ensure a diverse and wide-ranging cross section of our Mallee communities come along to work on the opportunities and challenges we face together,” Ms Scott said.
The night’s themes have been distilled from last year’s assembly which identified six priority areas: Road, Rail and Air, Food and Water, Small Town Futures, Lifestyle and Tourism, Health and Wellbeing, Education and Training.
“These are big issues for our region, and we want to develop the ‘game changing’ ideas that will enable the Mallee to realise its full potential as a great place to live, work and do business … and make top rating TV shows!” Ms Scott said.
“Clearly there’s plenty of passionate people keen to bring their game-changing ideas to the table,” she said.
“And what better way to do it, than through the Mallee Regional Partnership’s annual assembly, which then makes direct recommendations into the heart of the government’s regional budget engine room.”
The 2017 Regional Assembly will be held in Swan Hill on the evening of 29 June.
