Elmore Field Days redevelopment opened

Wednesday, 5 October 2011

Minister for Regional and Rural Development Peter Ryan officially opened the new 5,800 square metre Agribusiness Exhibitor Pavilion at the Elmore Field Days today.

Mr Ryan joined event organisers, local council representatives, exhibitors and visitors to officially celebrate the completion of the pavilion and other components of the $1.3 million Elmore Field Days site redevelopment project.

The comprehensive redevelopment works carried out at the site will ensure the Elmore Field Days continue to be one of Victoria's leading agricultural events.

The four key components of the redevelopment are designed to diversify and broaden the use of this site and include:

  • construction of a multi-use administration facility that can accommodate exhibitors and other activities such as educational programs;
  • a new 5,800 sqm exhibitor pavilion;
  • convenience and rest room facilities at the truck loading and unloading depot for truck drivers who have made long haul trips; and
  • a bore re-activation and supply plant which will secure water for the Field Days.

The Elmore Field Days provided a significant economic boost to the region. Around 600 exhibitors and over 40,000 visitors from across Victoria and interstate participate in the Elmore Field Days to see the latest innovations in farming equipment and services.

The results of important field trials conducted by the Elmore Field Days and partner agencies such as the Department of Primary Industries are also showcased at the event to help inform farmers of innovations in farming practices and techniques that can be applied locally.

The new and improved facilities provide a great foundation for the future of the Elmore Field Days.

The Victorian Government provided $658,000 toward the $1.3 million redevelopment project.
