New face for Ballarat's Bray Raceway
Wednesday 23 February 2011
The State Government has announced a significant makeover for the Ballarat and District Trotting Club, worth $385,000, as part of their commitment to regional racing.
The upgrade will improve the appeal, safety and accessibility of this major regional harness racing venue. Bray Raceway is one of this state's premier harness racing venues. The quality of its 1000 metre track and its on-course facilities ensure an exciting race meeting and enjoyable experience for all patrons. These upgrades promise to further enhance the venue and entice even greater crowds to the already-popular Ballarat race meetings.
The Government is dedicated to seeing punters and spectators return to the track for race meetings. Improvements such as those taking place at the Bray Raceway are just one of the strategies clubs can implement to improve on-course attendance.
This upgrade is also testament to the club's commitment to offering harness racing patrons a quality experience.
The upgrades will include streamlining the ticket booths, concealing public amenities and service yards and providing a modern foyer style entrance.
Car park capacity will increase from 188 to 231 spaces. Security will be enhanced by improved lighting and traffic management will be improved by curb and channelling works.
The State Government is contributing $142,500 to this upgrade.
Harness Racing Victoria and the Ballarat and District Trotting Club are jointly contributing $242,500 to the project and the project is expected to be completed by mid year.
