Support for Hit Geelong strategy
Friday, 26 August 2011
The City of Geelong will ramp up its targeted online marketing activities to attract business and industry investment to the region following the announcement of $50,000 from the Victorian Government to support the Hit Geelong strategy.
Through the strategy compelling information about the benefits of the region for business and industry investment will be available online and promoted to a national and international audience of potential investors.
Hit Geelong's aim is to raise the profile of the city's attributes to attract businesses looking to relocate, expand and operate in the region.
Funding provided for the project will enable the City of Greater Geelong to engage an IT professional to implement the strategy and promote the region as a preferred business and industry destination. Attributes to be highlighted include Geelong's existing workforce skills and participation, land-use capacity such as world-class business park environments and industrial land options, as well as opportunities within the health and education sectors.
The strategy will also include the capture of data from website hits and enquiries providing easily accessible intelligence to inform economic development projects and areas of opportunity.
The $50,000 in funding for the strategy will be provided to the City of Greater Geelong, who would provide the balance of the overall $151,000 project.
The Victorian Government is committed to creating new opportunities for economic growth in regional towns; it's all about developing economic and social infrastructure and enhancing the liveability of rural communities.
