Tertiary Education Aspirations Study for the Central Hume

The Hume RDA supported the Tertiary Education Aspirations Study for Central Hume to gain a greater understanding of what contributes to low aspiration.

The Hume Region has been the lowest performing region in Victoria in relation to Year 7-12 school retention rates and university enrolments. The Central Hume sub-region was selected for the study as it has the lowest participation rates of all the sub-regions in Hume Region.

The study has identified what social, environmental, socio-economic and community factors have a positive or negative impact upon the aspirations, education and destination of students within Central Hume sub-region, in a number of locations including Wangaratta, Benalla, Myrtleford and Mansfield. The study also profiled the characteristics of well performing areas.
