$100m to support Murray Darling Basin plan

26 February 2013

The final Murray Darling Basin (MDB) Plan was unveiled by Minister Burke in November 2012, together with the announcement of the $100 million Murray Darling Basin Regional Economic Diversification Program by Minister Crean.

The Program funding will be directed to economic diversification projects that assist Basin communities to strengthen their economic base and support the long-term viability of our rivers and regions.

The Commonwealth is working with the state government to define the implementation details of the program. The Hume RDA Committee has led discussions with Loddon Mallee and Grampians RDAs to determine the role for RDAs and will provide an update on discussions via the Hume RDA website and the next quarterly newsletter.
