Minister Crean opens the Goulburn River High Country Rail Trail1 June 2012

Regional Australia Minister Simon Crean joined Federal Member for McEwen, Rob Mitchell, State and Local Government representatives at Molesworth on Friday 1 June to officially mark the opening of the Goulburn River High Country Rail Trail.

The trail, which now links the towns and communities between Mansfield and Tallarook, is expected to draw 130,000 visitors to the area each year, creating new job opportunities for local townships.

The project included the construction of over 60 bridges, new car parks, toilets and shelters, and surfacing of the trail. Minister Crean said the project was underpinned by a strong partnership between Local, the Victorian and the Australian Government.
