Leadership in Lower Hume

25 June 2013

Regional Development Australia has identified the need to build leadership capacity in the Lower Hume sub region. To this end three participants were sponsored to undertake the Alpine Valley’s Community Leadership Program (AVCLP) during 2012-2013.

As a result, over the next two months, the steering committee for the Rivers and Ranges Community Leadership Program (RRCLP) will host a series of briefings in ten locations covering Mitchell, Murrindindi, Nillumbik, Whittlesea and Yarra Ranges councils. The briefings will seek to make connections to provide a foundation for the new program through sponsorship, in kind support or potential Board membership.

RRCLP steering committee members Lisa Linton (Mitchell), Michael Nardella (Murrindindi) and Charlie Bisset (Murrindindi) successfully graduated from the AVCLP in May 2012. The participants then put their skills into practice to assist the development of the business plan, apply for funding, and more effectively networking to establish support and sponsorship for the new RRCLP program.

RRCLP will continue to work with Hume RDA to pursue their goal to run their first annual program in 2014.
