Additional programs for regional Victoria

Regional Aviation Fund ($20 million)

The Regional Aviation Fund is a specific fund that is designed for the upgrade of regional airports. This fund is administered by the Department of Business and Innovation.

Industries for Today and Tomorrow ($28 million)

The Industries for Today and Tomorrow program assists Victorian businesses with strong growth potential to expand their existing regional operations or to establish a presence in a regional location, resulting in the creation of new jobs in regional Victoria. This program is administered by the Department of Business and Innovation.

Country Roads and Bridges Program ($160 million)

The Country Roads and Bridges program is available to forty rural councils who will be able to apply for up to $1 million. These roads and bridges, managed by rural councils, are important arterials for freight, school buses, emergency vehicles and everyday use by local families. This program is administered by the Department of Transport.

Better Regional Roads ($60 million)

The Better Regional Roads program provides funding for connections between Melbourne and rural and regional Victoria to further support regional growth. This initiative is administered by the Department of Transport with funding expiring on June 30, 2012.

Regional Tourism ($10 million)

The Regional Tourism program will provide significant funding to grow regional tourism by strengthening and establishing regional tourism boards. This initiative is administered by Tourism Victoria.

Rural Health Facilities ($111 million)

The Government is investing over $2.5 billion in additional funding in the budget to build capacity in the health system across Victoria over the next four years. The range of regional programs includes:

  • the rural capital support program ($56 million)
  • the bush nursing support program ($2.2 million)
  • the medical equipment replacement program (includes metropolitan facilities) ($35 million)
  • the hospital infrastructure renewal program (includes metropolitan facilities) ($20 million).

Rural Dental Practitioner Program ($1.1 million)

The Rural Dental Practitioner Program will encourage dental therapists, oral health therapists, dental prosthetists and dentists to relocate to country areas.

Rural Relocation Program ($1.6 million)

The Rural Relocation Fund will support hospitals that are finding it difficult to attract medical staff to work in rural areas.
