The project for Firebrace Street - the Horsham CBD main thoroughfare - was Horsham City Council's main priority for infrastructure funding and was the result of extensive public and user consultation.
Horsham is the main regional centre in the Wimmera and the Firebrace Streetscape Renewal project revitalises the main shopping strip and increases commercial and retail activity in the business precinct, providing a real boost for the local economy. The project will also greatly improve safety and access for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers.
Carried out under the city's Urban Development Plan, the design was endorsed by the traders group, user groups, and disability access groups and the completed sections have been very well received.
