New water bore infrastructure
Location: Licola and Dargo
Funding: Small Towns Development Fund - $200,000
With the support of the Wellington Shire Council, construction of new water bores in Licola and Dargo has benefited approximately 70 households in Dargo which now receive clean water supply.
The bores have provided a non-potable supply of water to overcome the turbidity of the supply previously drawn from the rivers in Licola and Dargo, which were affected by erosion caused by bushfires. The project provided infrastructure including holding tanks, pumps, power supply, hard stands, civil and access works and piping.
More than 60 tourist operators use Licola as a base for operations and the new infrastructure has helped tourism in the area which offers nature-based tourism in the Alpine National Park and Avon Wilderness Park.
