The Cross Border Commissioner

Cross Border Commissioner logoBrett Davis Brett Davis commenced as Victoria’s Cross Border Commissioner in February 2024, advocating for communities and businesses along each of Victoria’s state borders.

Brett Davis is a qualified town planner and Executive with over 30 years’ experience in project management, urban and regional planning, property, development management and facilitation. Most recently Brett was CEO at Moyne Shire in South West Victoria. In this role Brett was a strong advocate for rural and remote communities, dealing with all levels of government and delivering critical programs such as COVID recovery, key worker housing, early years and aged care services amongst many other aspects of Council operations.

Prior to this, Brett was Executive Director of Regional Victoria with the Victorian Planning Authority where he worked across 27 rural and regional towns delivering complex solutions to issues relating to land use development and infrastructure investment, including new growth areas in Wodonga, Shepparton, and Bendigo.

Brett has been a Senior and Sessional Member at Planning Panels Victoria, chairing significant built form and renewable energy projects resulting in significant investment across the State. In addition, he has served on the Building Appeals Board and has recently been part of Food and Fibre Great South Coast and Rural Councils Victoria. He held several senior planning and leadership roles in the public and private sectors including UGL Limited as well as extensive experience in local Government and industry as a planner and project manager.

Brett is a Fellow and past State President of the Planning Institute of Australia and has worked throughout Australia on numerous large-scale projects and led multi-disciplinary teams for public and private organisations. Brett is a Fellow of the Leadership Ballarat and Western Region program.
