The former Fire Recovery Unit (FRU) was established on 1 July 2011 following the closure of the Victorian Bushfire Reconstruction and Recovery Authority.

Information developed by the FRU, including services and key contacts relating to the 2009 Victorian bushfires, are retained here, on the Regional Development Victoria website.
