2011 Bushfire Recovery Unit

The Fire Recovery Unit was established on 1 July 2011 following the closure of the Victorian Bushfire Reconstruction and Recovery Authority (VBRRA) as a key point of contact on services within the Victorian Government for individuals and communities affected by the 2009 Victorian bushfires.

Information, including services and key contacts relating to the 2009 Victorian bushfires, are retained on the Regional Development Victoria website.

Victorian Bushfire Recovery Services Guide

The Fire Recovery Unit published the ‘Quick Reference Guide – Services and Support’ for people affected by the 2009 Victorian bushfires and a ‘Business Recovery Services Guide’ to keep people informed of the services available.

The Business Recovery Services Guide has two key sections:

  1. Specific bushfire recovery information including bushfire planning and rebuilding information, counselling and community grants programs.
  2. General information including health and personal support, financial and legal support, accommodation and housing support.

The Fire Recovery Unit does not provide information about current or past emergency events that are not related to the 2009 Victorian bushfires.
