The Victorian Government is delivering vital infrastructure and transport upgrades in Ballarat to position the city for future population growth and investment opportunities.
These projects will provide essential infrastructure, connections and services to support the city’s growing population as well as deliver on the City of Ballarat’s Making Ballarat Central – The CBD Action Plan 2017-2021.
To help with the impacts some of the construction projects are having on car parking, the Victorian Government is also providing $2 million to creating an extra 1000 parking space in the Ballarat CBD.

Ballarat Line Upgrade
Lead agency: Rail Projects Victoria
Timeline: Works have commenced, completion scheduled for end of 2019.

Ballarat Bus Interchange
Lead agency: VicTrack
Timeline: Reference design complete.

Ballarat Station Precinct Redevelopment
Lead agency: Regional Development Victoria
Timeline: Works have started on Stage 1, completion due end of 2018. Stage 2 is expected to commence following Stage 1 with completion by the end of 2020.

Timeline: Design and site establishment with continue in 2018, with construction set to start by end of 2018 and completion marked for the end of 2020.

Mair Street upgrades
Lead agency: VicRoads
Timeline: Early work has commenced on Stage 1 of the project, with the relocation of electrical services and powerlines. Road construction between Dawson and Armstrong Streets is planned to commence in October 2018 and be completed before the Christmas season. Construction between Davies and Humffray Street is planned to commence in January 2019.

Timeline: Planning, further consultation and design scheduled for 2018, following which works will commence.
Parking in the CBD
The Victorian Government has provided $2 million to the City of Ballarat’s Car Parking Strategy to deliver 1,000 new car parks across the City.
The first 300 new car parks will be delivered in Creswick Road, to offset the loss of 275 car parks due to the construction of the Ballarat GovHub.
Funding Details
The Victorian Government has allocated $2 million to the City of Ballarat to provide an additional 1,000 new car parking spaces within the Ballarat CBD.
