The Victorian Government is delivering vital infrastructure and transport upgrades in Ballarat to position the city for future population growth and investment opportunities.

These projects will provide essential infrastructure, connections and services to support the city’s growing population as well as deliver on the City of Ballarat’s Making Ballarat Central – The CBD Action Plan 2017-2021.

To help with the impacts some of the construction projects are having on car parking, the Victorian Government is also providing $2 million to creating an extra 1000 parking space in the Ballarat CBD.

Ballarat Bus Interchange

Lead agency: VicTrack
Timeline: Construction commenced in March 2021 and is expected to be completed in late 2021.

Ballarat Station Precinct Redevelopment

Lead agency: Regional Development Victoria
Timeline: Stage 1 (commuter carpark) was completed in February 2019. Stage 2 (hotel, refurbished Goods Shed and public realm works) commenced in March 2018 with completion expected in the second half of 2021.

VicRoads cycling strategy

Lead agency: VicRoads
Timeline: Planning, further consultation and design scheduled for 2018, following which works will commence.


Parking in the CBD

The Victorian Government has provided $2 million to the City of Ballarat’s Car Parking Strategy to deliver 1,000 new car parks across the City.

The first 300 new car parks will be delivered in Creswick Road, to offset the loss of 275 car parks due to the construction of the Ballarat GovHub.

The Victorian Government has allocated $2 million to the City of Ballarat to provide an additional 1,000 new car parking spaces within the Ballarat CBD.
