More worker accommodation in Mallee27/01/2022
Workers across the Mallee will soon have access to more accommodation with a new suite of housing on track for completion in July 2022, thanks to support from the Victorian Government.
The Swan Hill Worker Housing project is supported by the Victorian Government’s Building Works package.
The project will deliver four houses for workers through a $500,000 grant from the Building Works package to bring more workers to the region in industries such as healthcare and education.
Groundwork for the project is now complete and the building slabs have recently been poured for the new accommodation with framing now underway.
The houses are being built in Ronald Street, Robinvale with the Swan Hill Rural City Council planning to further develop the site in the future.
The Victorian Government is also addressing seasonal worker shortages through the Ramsay Court Worker Accommodation facility in Mildura which opened in November last year.
That project was supported by $800,000 from the Building Works package to provide space for up to 56 seasonal workers through 25 rooms. It also includes a communal kitchen, communal laundry and outdoor area.
The $2.7 billion Building Works program is designed to provide immediate and lasting benefit to communities across the state, with more than half the projects in rural and regional Victoria – from our smallest town to our most famous natural wonders. More information is available on the Building Works page.
