Shining a spotlight on Sebastopol03/05/2022
Better sporting facilities, upgrades to an RSL hall and a community garden are among a suite of projects to be delivered in Sebastopol as part of the Victorian Government’s commitment to revitalise the growth area.
Works will begin at MR Power Park thanks to $440,000 from the Government through the $5 million Spotlight on Sebastopol program.
MR Power Park is one of five new projects to receive funding as part of the 2018 election commitment to improve the liveability of the suburb.
Residents in Sebastopol can look forward to a range of new community facilities at MR Power Park including new exercise equipment, a skate park, a 3x3 basketball court, AFL goals and new pathways as part of the project.
Other projects to receive funding include improvements to the streetscape at Sebastopol Shopping Centre, upgrades to the Sebastopol RSL Hall, new lighting at St George’s Reserve arena, and establishing a community garden at Phoenix Community College.
The Spotlight on Sebastopol project is supported by detailed community consultation, including the establishment of a local community reference group that has helped lead the project’s design and guide investment priorities.
The $5 million program has already been committed to projects such as the Connecting Sebastopol project, Yarrowee River Access project and the Urban renewal project, which is increasing the tree canopy by planting 1300 trees across key streets in Sebastopol.
The Spotlight on Sebastopol program forms part of the Government’s record investment of almost $30 billion in rural and regional Victoria since 2015. To find out more visit Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund.
