Start your engines at Simpson Speedway

Motorsport fans at Jancourt’s Simpson Speedway can look forward to a jam-packed summer of racing with brand-new light towers installed to ensure safer and more accessible events for competitors and fans.

Solely run by dedicated volunteers, the Simpson Car Club was first established in 1969 and they have been running night events at the speedway since 1987.

The old lighting in use at the track for events had gradually become outdated and unsafe and prompted the need to install new state-of-the-art LED light towers powered by the club’s diesel generator.

The light towers, which were funded through the Victorian Government’s Pick My Project initiative will be on use throughout the summer months with the Simpson Car Club holding a calendar of events from December to April.

The new lights are a welcome addition to the track for the 50+ volunteers who are members of the car club and help make the exciting action happen for Jancourt and the wider region.

The speedway acts as an important meeting place for the community, providing an engaging social activity for the public in and around Jancourt.

Minister for Regional Development Jaclyn Symes said; “the Speedway Track Upgrade of Lighting is a fantastic project which the Government is delighted to help fund through the Pick My Project initiative.”

Pick My Project is a participatory budgeting initiative from the Victorian Government, with the public having been encouraged to vote on projects they would like to have seen introduced in their community.
