Ballarat Major Events Precinct Community Sporting Facilities Upgrade

The new pavilion at Ballarat's Frank Bourke oval.

We provided $5 million to help the City of Ballarat construct a new  pavilion at Frank Bourke Oval. This project was part of the Victorian Government’s investment in upgrading the Ballarat Major Events Precinct, funded through our Council Support Package.

This new pavilion includes 2 buildings which provide:

  • modern and accessible changing rooms for players and umpires to support success on the field
  • social and meeting rooms for events, functions and gatherings
  • a new veranda for spectating and socialising
  • a kitchen, canteen and bar to support functions and matches
  • a relocated and upgraded scorer’s box
  • equipment storage facilities.

The completed facility makes it easier than ever for local sporting clubs and community groups to use the venue and ensure more people of all ages and abilities are made to feel welcome at the site.

The project will also support elite pathways for junior footballers from Ballarat and the surrounding region, while also increasing the availability of grounds within the Ballarat Major Events Precinct.

It’s part of our commitment to making Ballarat an even better place to live, work, stay, experience, invest and study.
