We’ve provided $3 million through our Council Support Package to support City of Greater Shepparton deliver 2 major projects that celebrate and strengthen community, culture and connectivity – supporting a dynamic transformation that will make the city an even better place to live, work, stay and play.
These projects are planned for completion in 2026.
The Gemmill’s Swamp to KidsTown Shared Pathway
This project is creating a scenic and culturally rich link between Mooroopna and Shepparton.
The 2.3 km shared path will offer a smooth, accessible route for walkers and cyclists – complete with a new bridge, seating and interpretive signage.
As part of the Yahna Gurtji Shared Path Network, the pathway will use signage to share the stories and heritage of Yorta Yorta Traditional Owners – including the legacy of the 1939 Cummeragunja Walk-Off.
The pathway will also connect local attractions like the Shepparton Art Museum, Aquamoves, and Victora Park Lake, offering new tourism, recreation and cultural engagement activities across the city.
Shepparton Sports City Precinct Major Event Enhancement Package
This project is taking Shepparton’s sporting infrastructure to new heights and scoring goals for athletes and community members.
By upgrading Shepparton Sports Stadium and VISY Community Stadium, this project will support local clubs, help to attract major events, while creating inclusive and accessible spaces for athletes and spectators.
From new roofs and modernised change rooms to safer courts and better signage to help people find their way, the precinct is being reimagined as a first-class destination for sport and recreation.
Improved pathways, landscaping and connections between BMX, netball, football and hockey venues will make the precinct more walkable, welcoming and event ready.
