In rural and regional areas, living and working locally puts health professionals at the heart of the community – giving them a deeper understanding of local needs and the chance to build strong community ties.
That all begins with having a great place to call home.
The Regional Worker Accommodation Fund is turning this into reality, delivering more housing to make it easier for healthcare professionals to live and work where they’re needed most.
At Shepparton Hospital, 15 new modern apartments are being built for healthcare workers, including doctors, nurses and allied health professionals.
Set within a safe and secure location with direct access to the hospital, the modern three storey apartments will feature 18 bedrooms.
Energy efficient, with balcony spaces and on-site bike parking and storage, the apartments will feature solar power and heat pump hot water systems, LED lighting, double glazed windows, recycled glass and sustainably sourced timber materials.
The apartments are being constructed by locally-based builder Hansen Yuncken, which has strong regional roots - including a 100-year legacy in Shepparton.

This is the largest worker accommodation project at Goulburn Valley Health’s main Shepparton site in 50 years – a major step in helping the organisation attract and retain the skilled workforce it relies on.
The development will be boosted by 18 additional apartments, now under construction on the same site, funded through the Regional Health Infrastructure Fund.
The Regional Worker Accommodation Fund is supporting more than 12 healthcare accommodation projects, across the state helping to bring thousands more skilled health workers to Victoria’s regions.
