159 new projects for Victoria’s tiny towns

From walking tracks to community hall upgrades, Tiny Towns Fund Round 2 projects will be delivered across regional and rural Victoria to make our smallest towns better places to live, work, stay and play.

Towns with fewer than 5,000 people are being supported to connect communities and draw in more visitors to support businesses and bolster local economies.

There are 159 new projects part of round 2, including more than 20 new buildings, 50 renovation-based projects and 53 outdoor upgrades.

Waaia, in northern Victoria, will join the state’s silo art trail, with a new artwork to be painted on a grain silo in town. The new attraction will help draw in more visitors to Waaia, supporting local businesses such as the Waaia Hotel.

The Tiny Towns Fund is also supporting Willaura in western Victoria to install a public environmental art space, displaying indigenous plants to tell the story of the 6 Djab Wurrung seasons.

The Daisy Hill Community Centre in the Central Goldfields region is one of more than 25 community spaces across the state receiving funding for upgrades in round 2. The Daisy Hill centre will receive a more usable, accessible and functional kitchen for locals to use.

Almost 350 projects have received grants across both rounds of the Tiny Towns Fund in more than 300 towns throughout regional and rural Victoria. The fund also supports projects in outer metro areas.

Grants range from $5,000 and $50,000 to help local communities flourish with the projects they want that make a difference to their towns.
