Ballarat pavilion to kick goals for local athletes
05/03/2026More opportunities are on the horizon for Ballarat sports clubs and athletes, with a new pavilion at Frank Bourke Oval to open in May.
Backed by $5 million from our Council Support Package, the completed pavilion will offer:
- modern and accessible changing rooms for players and umpires
- rooms for events and social gatherings
- an upgraded and relocated scorer’s box
- undercover viewing for spectators.
Club members will also have access to a kitchen, canteen and bar for functions and matches.
These modern, spacious and accessible facilities will get even more locals enjoying sports, training programs and active lifestyles.
The pavilion, which will meet AFL Victoria and Cricket Australia standards, will also support elite pathways to help players reach the highest levels of their sport.
In another win for the local community, this project is being assembled by local tradespeople after its modular construction by SHAPE Australia.

Located within the Ballarat Major Events Precinct, the pavilion project complements ongoing upgrades to nearby Eureka Stadium, creating a thriving hub for community and professional sport.
The new pavilion is one of 27 projects across Victoria funded by our Council Support Package. This fund is helping local governments attract more visitors to regional cities and towns and create public spaces that empower communities.
Other projects across the state supporting healthy, active lifestyles include:
- the construction of a new pavilion at Geelong’s Landy Field
- upgrades to Shepparton’s Sport City Precinct
- the creation of the Bendigo Low Line, a shared walking and cycling trail that will create better connections across the city.
It’s part of our ongoing work to make regional cities and towns even better places to live, work, stay, experience, invest and study.
