Boosting Beaufort businesses with new housing

01/10/2026

More workers will call Beaufort home before the end of the year, with 10 new houses on track for completion in the coming weeks, in a win for local businesses and industries.

A row of brown and white worker houses, with black roofs. Each house has a concrete driveway and walkway to the front door, and a front lawn area with a tree planted near the edge of the property.

Supported by our Regional Worker Accommodation Fund, the project will help local businesses secure the staff they need to grow their operations.

The houses will soon welcome up to 20 workers in key local industries, including:

  • healthcare
  • education
  • construction
  • agriculture.

The homes will help localise Beaufort’s workforce and reduce reliance on commuter workers without adding pressure on the local rental market.

Delivered by regional builders Hotondo Homes Ararat and GJ Gardner Homes Ballarat, the project has supported more than a dozen regional jobs throughout construction, while supporting a range of regional suppliers.

Land for 20 residential lots has also been unlocked at an adjacent site, thanks to the installation of essential infrastructure including:

  • water
  • electricity
  • gas
  • sewerage
  • internet.

This has set the stage for future building and economic activity, and population growth.

Our Regional Worker Accommodation Fund has unlocked $300 million in housing investment for thousands of regional workers.

Investments like these help ensure our regional cities and towns are even better places to live, work, stay, experience, invest and study.
