Bringing more workers to Beaufort
19/08/2025Beaufort businesses will soon find it easier to attract and retain workers across local industries, with development starting on 10 worker houses to help to boost service delivery and economic growth in the town.
We’re backing local developers Hotondo Homes Ararat and GJ Gardner Homes Ballarat to deliver the houses, through our Regional Worker Accommodation Fund (RWAF).
The completed homes will offer two-bedroom and three-bedroom rental options for workers and their families, meeting local demand for short-term, long-term and seasonal workers.
The houses will also reduce reliance on workers commuting from Ballarat and beyond to fill jobs in Beaufort.
As part of this accommodation project, water, electricity, gas, sewerage and internet connections will also be installed in the block of land next to the worker housing.
This infrastructure, along with funding from the Australian Government, will enable Pyrenees Shire Council to directly pursue the further development of housing or to sell the land for private development. The Beaufort worker houses are another example of RWAF backing regional suppliers to deliver solutions to worker housing shortages.
This development will support local jobs across Hotondo Homes and GJ Gardner Homes, ensuring the project is delivered by and for regional workers. This regionally led approach is a key feature of the projects being supported by the fund across our regions.
It’s about ensuring regional communities have access to the skills and workforces they need to help them continue to thrive.
Our support for this project is part of our record $47 billion investment in just over a decade to drive economic growth and make Victoria’s regions even better places to live, work, stay, experience, invest and study.
