Bullarto Station rolls out new look

A more complete and immersive 1930’s railway experience awaits visitors to Bullarto Station.

It’s thanks to an interior fit-out of the historical destination that’s set to get more people riding the rails and supporting regional volunteers and businesses.

Supported by our Tiny Towns Fund, the fit-out has installed:

  • heritage-style cabinetry in the Station Master’s Office
  • new furniture for the Lamp Room waiting area
  • era-appropriate picket fencing around the station grounds.

Night-time and evening activities are also on the cards, with the fund supporting the installation of floodlighting to improve visibility and safety around the station grounds. A water tank has also been installed and will provide a new water supply to the site.

These are the latest improvements in a multi-year redevelopment of Bullarto Station that’s received more than $500,000 from the Victorian Government.

Previous works constructed the station’s replica buildings and historical exhibits, and the Van Goods Shed, which has become a popular wedding and events venue.

These developments have helped to increase visitor numbers by more than 10 per cent since 2024 and supported the volunteer activities offered by The Daylesford Spa Country Railway, which run trains from the Wombat State Forest to Daylesford.

The project is the latest to help position Hepburn Shire as a must-see destination and complements recent upgrades to Daylesford’s Wombat Hill Botanic Gardens, which have rejuvenated the Victorian-era parkland.

The nearby creation of the Djuwang Baring mountain bike trails in Creswick, also supported by the Victorian Government, is drawing additional visitors from near and far to the area.

These investments are about making rural and regional Victoria even better places to live, work, stay and play.
