It's a goal: Ballarat snags new pavilion
25/08/2026Ballarat’s new pavilion at Frank Bourke Oval is now open and set to have more people kicking goals, taking wickets and finding pathways to the big leagues.
Made possible by $5 million from our Council Support Package and more than $100,000 from the City of Ballarat, the new facility is ready to change the game for local sportspeople and residents.
Ballarat is fast becoming a major regional sporting hub, and these new facilities will help boost participation across codes – including football and cricket, while providing a space for athletes to participate in elite development programs.
The new pavilion includes two buildings with modern and accessible change rooms for players and umpires, supporting great participation in sport for women and girls.
The buildings also offer:
- a kitchen, canteen and bar to support functions and matches
- spaces for events and gatherings
- a new veranda to shield spectators from the weather
- an improved scorer’s box.
Tenant clubs, the North Ballarat Football and Netball Club, and North Ballarat Cricket Club will also have ample storage space for training and match equipment.
The redevelopment of Frank Bourke Oval is part of a broader upgrade of the Ballarat Major Events Precinct, helping attract more events and visitors to Ballarat and creating jobs during construction.
Other works include new grandstands at Mars Stadium and the new Ballarat Regional Athletics Centre, with the broader precinct due for completion in late 2026.
The Frank Bourke Oval project supported more than 100 jobs during construction, and is one of 27 projects across Victoria funded by the Council Support Package.
