Bowlers, spectators and community members can now safely and easily access the Linton Bowls Club no matter their age or ability, thanks to a resurfaced car park and a new ramp into the clubroom.

The upgrades have improved accessibility for the elderly, movement impaired, and people with mobility scooters. They’ve also made it easier for young families with prams to join in the fun at bowls and community events.

The Linton Bowls Club is a small country club, which hosts a range of competitive and recreational bowls activities for people of all ages.

Thanks to an investment of $82,500 from the Victorian Government via RDV, the club is seeing increased participation – both on and off the green.

“These upgrades are a boost for our small community with our club now open to all for a range of community events including gatherings, meetings and birthdays,” Linton Bowls Club member, Shayne Ellis said.

Following the upgrades, the club started hosting tournaments with regional Ballarat bowling associations and is now looking to host additional local events and activities to bring people together and extend the facility’s opening hours.

The upgrades and improved access have also opened up commercial hire opportunities for the Linton Bowls Club, increasing its capacity to hold fundraising events to ensure its sustainability.

During construction, 15 roles were created in earthmoving, concreting and asphalting jobs. A total of 28 local tradespeople worked across the project.

Regional sporting clubs are key community assets for small towns, and the upgrades at Linton Bowls Club mean that anyone of any age or ability can join in the fun.
