Major upgrade starts at Apollo Bay

Construction has started on a $12.6 million redevelopment of the Apollo Bay Harbour.

The investment will improve the visitor experience at this important community precinct and broaden its commercial and recreational opportunities.

Upgrades will include an extension to the Apollo Bay Fisherman’s Cooperative building to boost local angling businesses and attract more visitors.

Founded in 1948 by local fishers, it’s one of the last remaining fishing cooperatives in Victoria. The building will be expanded to include new dining options, the return of a wet fish market, and an outdoor terrace.

A new Port Operations Depot will be built to improve worker safety, ongoing recreation and commercial operations in the port.

There will also be upgrades to the Mothers Beach car park, and safer pedestrian and vehicle access provided around the harbour precinct.

This investment in the Apollo Bay Harbour Redevelopment is one of many ways we’re supporting the local economy and the Great Ocean Road.

It’s part of a $676 million investment by the Australian and Victorian governments to unlock the economic potential of the region.

Other infrastructure projects currently underway include the Twelve Apostles Precinct Redevelopment, Kennett River Tourism Infrastructure Upgrades, and the Point Grey Redevelopment in Lorne.
