More housing, more healthcare workers for Wangaratta

17/06/2026

We’ve helped to create 9 new accommodation units in Wangaratta to house staff at Northeast Health Wangaratta (NHW).

With works now complete, the units are ready to welcome healthcare professionals – providing a boost for regional services and easing pressure on Wangaratta’s rental market.

It’s another successful delivery through our Regional Worker Accommodation Fund.

NHW provides care and services for more than 90,000 people across northeast Victoria. It’s the major referral facility for people from Beechworth, Benalla, Bright, Euroa, Yarrawonga and beyond.

The affordable units, which offer a combined 16 bedrooms for staff and their families, are fully furnished and energy efficient, providing a modern and welcoming environment for short or longer-term stays.

Located next to the hospital and within walking distance of Wangaratta’s centre, the accommodation ensures staff are near their place of work and the heart of the community. This sets the new tenants up to enjoy both their professional and personal pursuits.

By providing dedicated facilities for staff at NHW, the units will also help to ease pressure on the town’s broader rental market, to the benefit of the wider community.

The accommodation will be available to NHW workers for a minimum of five years, with the potential for the units to be made available to the private market after this point, depending on the needs within NHW and the broader community.

The new units are among more than 40 accommodation projects across Victoria currently supported through the Regional Worker Accommodation Fund.

This fund is part of our ongoing work to make our regions even better places to live, work, stay, experience, invest and study.
