New jobs and business comes to Portland
24/06/2025Bunnings has created more than 50 jobs at its new Portland location, which adds to the 50 local roles supported during the construction of the new warehouse.
The warehouse sits within the Portland North Employment Precinct, 10-hectares of land for commercial use made possible through the construction of key road and drainage infrastructure.
This has opened the door for more businesses like Bunnings to set up shop in Portland. The precinct was delivered by Glenelg Shire Council and is funded by $2.5 million from the Government’s $17.4 million Portland Economic Diversification Plan to strengthen and expand the local economy.
The Plan is backing ongoing initiatives across Glenelg Shire to stimulate the economy through new jobs and investments that support more business activity.
The government is also continuing its focus on delivering trunk infrastructure to regional Victoria as part of the Economic Growth Statement.
This includes infrastructure like water supply, sewerage, roads and electricity to open the door to more industrial land across the state.
