New visitor centre completed at Twelve Apostles

07/10/2026

The Twelve Apostles has a new visitor precinct ready to provide a world-class experience for millions of people each year.

Completed ahead of the busy summer period, the Keerray Woorroong Visitor Centre offers:

  • a 230-seat cafe
  • kiosk
  • gallery space
  • visitor information
  • toilets
  • a rooftop lookout.

The beautifully designed visitor centre is surrounded by native plantings that form a series of gardens for people to explore.

Gathering spaces and outdoor seating are dotted throughout the precinct, with paths to the coastline and new car park for hundreds of vehicles.

Opening to the public on 16 October, the $126 million project has been jointly funded through a partnership between the Australian and Victorian governments and the City of Greater Geelong.

This partnership is delivering infrastructure projects along the Great Ocean Road that will unlock the economic potential of the region.

Hundreds of tradespeople were engaged on this Local Jobs First project, and dozens of apprenticeships were delivered. Almost 100 jobs have now been created for ongoing operation of the precinct.

Reflecting the enduring connection of the area’s Traditional Owners, 'Keerray Woorroong' is the name of both the Country and Language of the First Nations people of the area.

When visiting the precinct, people will be able to engage with Keerray Woorroong Culture through visitor information and interpretation, while design features are included throughout to celebrate this cultural landscape.

Completed just before this year’s busy summer period, the visitor precinct is a boost to Victoria’s $49.5 billion visitor economy, which supports more than 320,000 jobs.

Bookings to the Twelve Apostles are now required before arriving and to secure a car park – with no fee until April 2027.

A booking fee will then be introduced, with all revenue directly helping to protect and improve the coast and parks of the Great Ocean Road for generations to come.

The introduction of a booking system will help improve the visitor experience by managing congestion and will protect the coastal environment at the Twelve Apostles. It will also provide a safer and more accessible experience and encourage longer stays across the region.

The new visitor centre will be operated by the Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority (GORCAPA).
