We’ve backed the creation of a new Ballarat factory that’s capable of producing affordable, energy-efficient windows to help bring houses up to a 7-star energy rating or better, helping make it cheaper to heat and cool homes.

JG Building Goup’s new Wendouree factory, which combines its JG King Homes, and its Project Windows and Doors arms, has created 15 new full-time jobs and driven more than $6 million in capital investment into Ballarat.

The state-of-the-art facility brings the two operations under one roof to maximise productions efficiencies and reduce costs – while laying the groundwork for further growth.

Using solar power and cutting-edge manufacturing software, the facility features an automated assembly line that’s capable of mass-producing energy-efficient doors and windows for residential builds.

These double-glazed doors and windows will adhere to changes established in the 2022 National Construction Code. This means helping people to build energy-smart homes that are more comfortable to live in, cost less to heat and cool, and help to reduce residential greenhouse gas emissions.

JG King Building group is pleased to see the completion of the facility, which they note is the most advanced of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.
