The towns of Woodford and Port Fairy are home to close-knit communities, where small upgrades can make a big difference to everyday life.

Grants through our Tiny Towns Fund have backed upgrades to both towns, supporting safer access, community sport and stronger local connections.

Woolford upgrades

In Woodford, getting to school is now safer and easier, with new upgrades improving access for students, teachers and families.

The $50,000 Tiny Towns Fund grant delivered a new car park area and footpath. These link directly with the school to support smoother pick-ups and drop-offs.

The project has also delivered a direct walking and riding link between the towns of Woodford and Bushfield. By turning a service lane into a safe, shared path - people can now walk or cycle between both towns.

Port Fairy upgrades

At Port Fairy, a $16,800 grant for the Port Fairy Basketball Stadium has repainted courts and delivered new accessible benches for players and scorekeepers.

The stadium is a treasured community asset. Run by volunteers from the Port Fairy Basketball Association, it hosts the iconic Port Fairy Folk Festival and is home to teams like the Port Fairy Pacers.

Senior and junior competitions are supported at the stadium, and it’s also used for sports such as netball and pickleball.

Both projects supported local contractors who were engaged to deliver the upgrades – keeping jobs local.

A recent $42,300 grant from Round 3 of our Tiny Towns Fund will also boost active play in Port Fairy. It will help deliver new playground equipment and landscaping at the Port Fairy Community Services Centre.

More than 500 Tiny Towns Fund projects are being funded across regional Victoria.
