Snow much fun awaits at Dinner Plain this winter
10/07/2025Travelling to an alpine village hand in paw with your best mate or sliding down Australia’s longest toboggan slope can only be done at Dinner Plain. Now, major upgrades are making the experience even better.
With no resort fee and the only alpine village in Victoria where dogs are allowed year-round - even during the snow season - Dinner Plain Alpine Village is truly one of a kind.
Just 15 minutes from Mount Hotham, Dinner Plain features the Peashooter Toboggan Slope, which is Australia’s biggest and longest, measuring 75 metres long and 40 metres wide.
Thanks to more than $5 million from the Victorian Government, Dinner Plain has new snow guns and a new snow factory for the toboggan slope which will allow the resort to make more snow, more often.
A new water bore and a 200,000-litre reservoir have been built to support snowmaking operations, which will serve as a backup water source for the town in the event of bushfires.
Upgrades have also been delivered at Scrubbers Hut, which serves as a central hub for winter and summer activities in the alpine village.
The building has been improved with new seating, picnic and BBQ facilities, a mountain bike repair station and new accessible features including baby change facilities.
Safer pedestrian crossings have made the destination even more accessible for the whole family, while more than 100 new car spaces have been added to make it easier to find a park.
The playground area has also been upgraded with new playground equipment, picnic shelters, tables and benches.
Offering something for everyone at 1,500 metres altitude, the upgrades at Dinner Plain mean more reliable snow conditions, better access and more facilities for the whole family to enjoy.
