Tender awarded for Bairnsdale worker accommodation project
02/12/2025New worker accommodation for East Gippsland’s biggest employer is one step closer.
Gippsland-based company BFN Developments will deliver 20 new modern accommodation units for Bairnsdale Regional Health Service, thanks to support from our Regional Worker Accommodation Fund.
Comprising 26 new bedrooms that will be conveniently located across the road from the Day Street Hospital Campus, the new accommodation will provide comfortable housing to attract and retain skilled healthcare workers.
These workers will join a team that provides crucial care services for East Gippsland and the Shire’s High Country communities – including women’s health, paediatric and birthing services, elective surgeries, palliative care, and a range of other medical services.
BFN Developments has been operating across Gippsland and regional Victoria since 1991. They have delivered more than 245 construction projects across sectors including aged and community care, healthcare and education.
BFN’s delivery of the worker accommodation at Bairnsdale is another example of the Regional Worker Accommodation Fund using regional companies and workers to help solve housing and workforce skills shortages across the state.
The new accommodation will mean key workers can enjoy safe, direct and quick access to the hospital, while helping to ease pressures on the region’s tight rental market.
It will mean that more people can find a place to live and stay in Bairnsdale, helping to spur further economic and population growth in East Gippsland’s largest town.
Our support for Bairnsdale Regional Health’s worker accommodation project is part of our ongoing work to make our regional cities and towns even better places to live, work, study, invest and experience.
