Topping out at the Twelve Apostles
15/09/2025A new Visitor Experience Centre being built at the Twelve Apostles has reached its highest point, with completion of the rooftop structure where a lookout will showcase the area’s stunning scenery.
It’s a major milestone in the $126 million redevelopment of the visitor precinct, a project that will transform people’s experience at the state’s most visited natural destination.
The project will create a world-class gateway to the famous coastline and beyond, providing a boost to the regional and visitor economy.
It will improve safety, accessibility and experiences for the millions of people that visit the Twelve Apostles each year.
The Visitor Experience Centre will include retail and hospitality, a rooftop lookout, Welcome Garden, and engaging opportunities to learn about Eastern Maar cultural heritage and the surrounding landscape. Extensive car and bus parking, landscaping, revegetation, and new road infrastructure are also being delivered.

Construction of the project is creating up to 90 jobs, with a range of companies from the region delivering key components. Further jobs will be created once the visitor centre is completed and operational.
The redevelopment of the Twelve Apostles visitor precinct is part of the Geelong City Deal, a $676 million investment by the Australian and Victorian governments, and local councils. The investment is delivering projects that unlock the potential of the Great Ocean Road region visitor economy.
Other projects include the Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Events Centre, the redevelopment of Point Grey in Lorne, and the delivery of major improvements to the Apollo Bay Harbour precinct.
