Upgrades supporting sport and community in Morwell
24/09/2026A significant refurbishment of Maryvale Recreation Reserve is now complete – thanks to $920,000 from our Council Support Package.
This includes upgrades to the Latrobe Cricket Club pavilion to make the building more accessible for people of all ages and abilities, with modern club rooms to help the organisation welcome more members.
There has also been an extension of the building to accommodate:
- new public toilets, including an accessible toilet
- umpire changing rooms
- refurbished player areas
- improved catering facilities
- security enhancements to enhance the safety of the facility.
At Peter Siddle Oval within the reserve, resurfacing and drainage works have been completed, improving irrigation and making the grounds more resilient under heavy rains. Construction has also created new footpath connections to improve accessibility.
The upgrades will also provide a more accessible space for the wider community to connect, stay active and enjoy.
These works are part of more than 20 projects funded across Latrobe City Council under a $5 million grant from the Council Support Package.
Other projects underway include:
- upgrades at Crinigan Road South Reserve
- WiFi upgrades at more than 10 locations across Latrobe City Council
- an improvement of the pedestrian link between Ted Summerton Reserve and Moe Railway Station
- lighting upgrades at Morwell’s Ronald Reserve.
Funding also supported the successful Deadly in Gippsland Expo in late 2024, which was designed to connect, educate and empower First Nations businesses and raise their profile among potential buyers and procurers.
Our Council Support Package continues to support infrastructure upgrades, as well as community and business support initiatives across the Latrobe City Council.
