Backing key workers in Dunkeld
02/09/2026Construction is underway for five modular units that will help Dunkeld Pastoral Co provide housing for hospitality, tourism and agricultural workers.
The units will help local businesses managed by Dunkeld Pastoral Co including the Royal Mail Hotel to attract and retain staff.
The hotel is expected to open more days each week due to the extra housing for staff. This will help to attract visitors to Dunkeld and the nearby Grampians National Park (Gariwerd).
Each dwelling will support Dunkeld Pastoral Co’s workers to live closer to their workplaces. The housing will include:
- full kitchen and living areas
- native gardens
- two ensuite bedrooms for workers and their families.
Dunkeld Pastoral Co employs more than 100 workers across a range of local businesses and operations, including the hotel, five farms, two organic produce gardens, and conservation and land management areas.
Regional business The Quarters Co is building modular units near Geelong in Hesse, backing the local manufacturing supply chain.
The project is made possible by the Regional Worker Accommodation Fund, which has activated more than $300 million in private investment to build accommodation that supports communities, key regional employers, industries and thousands of workers.
