Housing for healthcare workers in Colac
29/10/2026
New homes for healthcare workers in Colac are now complete and will help attract more health professionals to the community.
The 16 new units at Colac Area Health will provide accommodation for doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers.
Regional builder BDH Constructions built the units, with construction supporting 14 direct jobs and dozens more through suppliers, helping keep local trades busy.
The Colac-Otway area has more than 1,600 jobs in healthcare and social assistance. The new units will help Colac Area Health attract and keep staff it needs to support the community.
The project was made possible by the Regional Worker Accommodation Fund, which has helped attract more than $300 million in private investment to build homes for staff.
These homes support regional communities, major employers, industries and thousands of workers.
The fund is also supporting new units for Timboon and District Healthcare workers. Similar projects will provide homes for healthcare workers in Omeo, Bairnsdale and Benalla.
