New accommodation to support community health at Kyabram

07/08/2025

The Kyabram and District Health Service has been providing essential services to its community since 1933.

It’s an integral part of this growing town in the Goulburn Valley – but one that needs more accommodation for staff.

That’s where the Regional Worker Accommodation Fund comes in.

Set up to deliver much-needed housing for workers in key regional industries, the fund is supporting the construction of two new units at Kyabram.

To be located next to the hospital in town, the units will help fill a gap in the accommodation that’s available for visiting staff.

That’s good news for the healthcare workers and people of Kyabram.

And it’s not just happening in Kyabram. The Regional Worker Accommodation Fund is helping deliver similar projects across the state.

Elsewhere in central and northern Victoria that includes at Castlemaine, Irymple, Kerang, and throughout the Buloke Shire.

At Castlemaine, new accommodation will help attract and retain staff at the KR Don Smallgoods manufacturing site. At Irymple, 10 new units will provide housing for healthcare and education workers.

These projects are helping more people have access to jobs close to home and helping growing communities attract the key workers they need to thrive.

Work has now started on the Kyabram accommodation, with Timberline Constructions from nearby Benalla delivering the build. The project is expected to finish early next year.
